Calling in Gay day

Calling in 'gay' to work is latest form of protest
By LISA LEFF – 15 hours ago

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Some same-sex marriage supporters are urging people to "call in gay" Wednesday to show how much the country relies on gays and lesbians, but others question whether it's wise to encourage skipping work given the nation's economic distress.

Ya know that was my 1st thought when I read it too.

Ayup. It wouldn't even be a matter of gay/closet/whatever. It would so piss off my employer who is completely stressed out over trying to get this project done (that she actually hampers it; whole long 'nother story) that if I did that I'd probably be fired too.

Yes. This.

Now at my job, I can call out whenever I need to and don't need to give a reason, however if call out unexpectedly more than five times in 12 months, no matter what the reason, I can be put on a warning.

If I "called out gay" my boss wouldn't take a moment to reflect on how important queers are to the running of the business. She's just wonder why I was being weirdly confrontational and offensive.

...and I've had that icon for years.

My floor would shut down. 2 out of 6 docs and 2 out of 6 midwives. And that's just who's out...

I have closed my business for the day. And my clients are none too happy. Don't care. So I personally have impacted about 6,000 people...give or take a few. And right in the middle of conference season! Yesssssssss!
